Once deployed, the Alcatel-Lucent solution will provide Mobicom with the end-to-end quality of service (QoS) and secure functionality needed to deliver innovative, value-added services to their customers. The project will be implemented in several phases with the first phase completed in Q2, 2007. Under the terms of the contract, Alcatel-Lucent will provide Mobicom with products from its comprehensive IMS-ready NGN portfolio, including softswitches and media gateways. Implementation of the project will enable MobiCom to significantly increase its network capacity, while minimizing transmission expenses thanks to distributed media gateways. In addition, Alcatel-Lucent will introduce its new generation of convergent real time payment solutions providing Mobicom with advanced pre- and postpaid charging capabilities. Alcatel-Lucent will also provide the installation and integration of these products. Arvintsogt Ragchaa, Mobicom CEO commented:"We are confident that leveraging Alcatel-Lucent's extensive experience in deploying NGN solutions will enable a smooth evolution of Mobicom network towards an IP world and result in a successful network transformation project". Alcatel-Lucent also will expand the operator's GSM/GPRS/EDGE network with additional base stations as well as the latest generation of Alcatel-Lucent's radio network controller platform, the 9130 Base Station Controller/Multi-BSC Fast Packet Server (BSC/MFS), which is designed to support the ever-increasing volume of voice and data traffic generated by customer demand. |
